Jeremy Dearling
Representing the patient voice in research programmes. Supporting researchers, reviewing research applications and proposals
About Me
Jeremy Dearling has been involved in supporting research for several years through the Public and Patient Involvement route and contributes to research at the initial outline stage, through focus groups, advising and reviewing applications before and after funding. He supports research for a wide variety of hospitals and universities. He is a member of the Eastern Region Citizens Senate, the public and patient panel of the Stroke Association, the British Heart Foundation, the Research Design Service, is a member of Cancer Research UK Grand Challenge panel, and is invited to review for the National Institute of Health Research and the British Medical Journal. He sits on the Eastern Academic Health Science Network Innovation Review Panel. More recently Jeremy took up membership of the UK Critical Care Research Group. He welcomes approaches from researchers informally on an individual basis, and formally. He is informed in this by having been seriously ill himself, having supported his wife through her cancers, and by having worked in the NHS at ward level. He is therefore able to bring three perspectives to his involvement work.
